Adventure City in Anaheim, California is adding a family boomerang coaster built by Gerstlauer. Riders will sit two across and will be lifted backwards up and out of the station. Once at the top they will race through the station around the track and up the second spike, where they will then fly backwards and complete the same course in reverse. Fun Spot America in Orlando, Florida today announced the closing of their new ride Air Raid. Air Raid, a Crazy Flipping Spinning Flat Ride by Zamperla was added in November, 2014 is all ready being taken out. According to the Fun Spot America Facebook page the ride was having mechanical problems causing safety issues, “It has given us many maintenance problems and for the safety of our guests we are taking it out”. The go on further to talk about potentially getting a permanent version of the ride, ” We’re keeping an eye out for a more in-ground permanent model instead of a portable one”. Space Invader an S&S swing ride will be opening on in the park soon though.

Holiday World announced today that Sparkler will be renamed and relocated for the 2015 season. Sparkler, a 60 foot tall Zamperla vertical swing ride, was originally located in the 4th of July section of the park This ride will now be located next to Thunderbird’s launch track by the vertical loop. Located in the Thanksgivng section of Holiday World Sparkler will now be named Crow’s Nest. Paula Werne, Director of Communications at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari stated that Sparkler’s former spot will become a seating area next season and room for new expansion in 2016. Holiday World opens to guests May 15th, 2015.
A new style of wooden coaster is coming to ZDT’s Amusement Park in Seguin, TX in 2015. The Gravity Group designed a wooden shuttle coaster. Check out this awesome point of view animation of Switchback. This coaster will feature 1,175 ft of track, A 63 foot tall lift hill, 58 foot tall drop and will reach speeds of 40 mph travailing both forwards and backwards.
Tony Clark, Director of Communications at Cedar Point Amusement Park, announced today that the Good Time Theater at Cedar Point is closing. The space is being used for future expansion. The ice show which currently is homed in that theater will not return for the 2015 season however their will be other entertainment options next season. Knott’s Berry Farm announces Voyage to the Iron Reef, an interactive 4-D shooting dark ride attraction. This ride is being built new for 2015 in old Kingdom Of The Dinosaurs dark ride building. This will be the next Triotech attraction built at a Cedar Fair park. (more…)
